绝对值编码器可以为每个轴位置提供一个绝对的码值。特别是在位置控制中，绝对值编码器减轻了控制器的计算任务，并且降低了其他附加的输入部件的成本。
此外，在电源启动后或者电源故障，不需要参考驱动，可获得当前的准确位置。并行编码器是通过几根电源线传输数据而串行编码器是通过标准的接口和协议来传输数据。
在过去，串行的传输，我们经常选择点对点的连接，但今天我们经常使用总线型的编码器
