反射板型光电传感器发射器和接收器被安装在一个壳体中，所以这类传感器安装比较简单。在对面放置一块反射板并用传感器进行与之对齐。标准型的反射板传感器内部增加了偏振滤波片，能实现远距离的可靠检测，即使是高光泽的物体。带透明物体检测功能的反射板型传感器可用来稳定检测透明目标物。
