AS-Interface 的主要特性:拓扑机构灵活: 树形,星形,线形等；便于集成到高层总线 (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet. ProfiNet ….)；有支持PLC板卡系列的扫描器；穿刺技术便于安装连接；自动识别替换的子站。
倍加福提供了广泛的AS-Interface集成的传感器型号。不同设计被应用于NC或者NO触点功能。AS-Interface传感器还提供了额外的一些功能如故障警告指示和线圈破损指示。对于光电式接近开关，通过参数切换亮通/暗通功能。倍加福旋转编码器也适用于4个AS-Interface芯片它能在每个周期内传送16位。
特殊的传感器设计带有2个输入型号“打开”/“关闭”，它是为了位置监视用的。可以通过AS-Interface给电磁阀和传感器供电。集成AS-Interface振动音叉用于补充液位监控。
多种类型的电感式可以被直接接入AS-Interface网络中。带有AS-Interface芯片的传感器有着许多智能功能，如自检测(故障报警) 或者可选参数设置(N.O. / N.C. 模式切换).符合V2.1版本的传感器，一个网络最多允许连接62个。
