AS-Interface 的主要特性:拓扑机构灵活: 树形,星形,线形等；便于集成到高层总线 (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet. ProfiNet ….)；有支持PLC板卡系列的扫描器；穿刺技术便于安装连接；自动识别替换的子站。
可连接扁平电缆的操作按钮和指示灯是提供给手动操作的。系统元件可以利用开始/停止按钮来来控制，操作人员可以得到视觉上的回馈。
完整的AS-Interface照明按钮也可被安装在控制面板中。最大4个指令可以通过AS-Interface模块来控制。
