在AS-Interface 2.1 版本下，最多62个 I/O模块可以被连接到一个AS-Interface 网络中。在最新的 AS-Interface 3.0版本下, 将I/O 容量从124 个输入124 个输出，增加到每网络1000 个I/O。当使用AS-Interface 智能型传感器，这类传感器可以直接被接入网络中, 一个网络最多可以连接62个智能传感器。
AS - Interface现场模块提供了一个强大，紧凑，圆形设计，创新性密封外壳的概念，特别适用于机械装备和过程自动化应用的理想选择。
清洗工序的蒸汽吸尘器，压力冲洗，和较高的机械应力，不影响G11模块的性能。即使在这种恶劣的环境条件下, 也可以快速方便地连接传感器和驱动器的一个AS-Interface。
VAA-4E4A-KE1- Z/E2是一款4输入4输出的控制箱型AS-Interface模块。外壳尺寸仅为22.5 mm宽48.5 mm高，在控制箱中只占用很小的空间。模块表面集成有编址孔，安装方式采用标准35 mm EN 50022 DIN导轨安装。
可插拔式的弹簧接线端子便于模块的拆卸和调试。
外部辅助电源、AS-Interface电缆、输入输出(IN和O)以及信号端的(I+)和输出端的地(O-)都通过可拆卸端子连接到模块上。
输入输出的供电都来自外部辅助电源。反极性信号通过一个红色AUX-LED来指示。
模块表面上的LED指示了当前输入输出通道的状态。
提示:模块有通讯监视功能。这个功能被激活后，当AS-Interface网络超过40 ms没有通讯时，输出会断电。当输出过载时，模块上的FAULT-LED会闪烁。输出过载信号会通过故障诊断位相应的传送给网关，但并不影响AS-Interface其它组件正常通讯。
