测距传感器的工作原理主要方式：
三角反射原理型：
非接触测距的第一种方法，主要通过接收器上感应接受光源的位置不同，来测量距离。此种方法常用于短距离高精度测量。P+F典型的产品为VDM18系列。相位差原理型：非接触测距的第二种方法，主要通过发射光源与接收光源的相位差△φ来测量距离。常用于中远距离检测。
时间差原理型：
非接触测距的第三种方式，主要通过发射光源与接收光源的时间差Dt来测量距离。此种方法常用于远距离高精度测距，稳定性好，环境适应性强。目前P+F典型的产品为VDM100系列。
VDM系列激光距离检测传感器能够测量并检测产品之间的距离，使其保持一致性，优化自动化生产及物流行业的各种应用，VDM激光距离检测传感器还能提供模拟量的输出，所以它也适用于电梯位置检测，电梯轿厢的准确定位。
VDM还可应用于任何需要厚度测量的领域，其中包括在印刷行业中对滚筒厚度的测量和反馈值的转换。VDM距离检测传感器也可用于料位控制，剖面测量，防错等物流行业中关键的生产步骤。
