WCS也可以在输送系统中进行车辆识别，同时对那些车辆进行毫米级的精确定位。在工业和商业领域有着广泛的应用。WCS应用在架空单轨吊车，输送机，起重机，自动存取系统以及电梯和剧院舞台照明系统等，使其性能提高到了一个新的水平。
不同的接口模块都可以通过标准接口和WCS读写头连接，例如：Parallel；SSI；Profibus DP；DeviceNet；CANopen；Ethernet；Interbus-S；ProfiNet和Modbus-RTU。除了SSI接口，四个读写头可以同时连接到所有的接口模块。
