LB系列远程I/O具备危险区2区（Zone 2，Class I，Div 2）认证,可安装在Zone 2,Class I,Div.2或者非危险区域。该模块化的信号调节系统允许通过以下连接方式将位于现场的信号关联至非危险区域的控制系统：安全区域现场连接(Non-Ex)；本质安全区域现场连接(Ex i)。
以上两种电路形式可以混合安装在一个系统中。LB系列远程I/O系统的安装方式是DIN导轨安装。或者，倍加福解决方案工程中心(SECs)可以提供预置LB系列远程IO系统的具备整体认证的定制机箱。
LB远程I/O系统能够安装于危险区 Zone2或者Zone 22以及安全区。该系统是模块化的信号处理系统，是现场信号和安全区的控制系统之间的接口界面。LB远程I/O系统通过标准的总线通讯协议（PROFIBUS, Modbus 等），将传统的传感器和现场设备的信号传送给DCS。可插拔的输入和输出模块能够在线热插拔。
