PROFIBUS PA 是目前流行的PROFIBUS协议的一部分。与 PROFIBUS DP的数据格式一致，简单地将设备集成到2个网络里，不存在任何障碍。
按IEC 61158-2标准 ，PROFIBUS PA 是现场总线，可在主机系统如DCS和PLC与现场仪表之间供电并进行数字通讯 –状态信息和控制命令可在同一电缆上多达31个参与者之间进行传输。PROFIBUS比单纯的过程控制系统要先进许多。通过PROFIBUS,可完成远程设定，资产管理，预见性维护。
FieldConnex® 是PROFIBUS PA数据集成到 DP-Master的合适系统。简单可靠的元件保证了其运行的持久性。多种防爆概念的选择使其成为安装，调试和可靠运行的首选技术。
PROFIBUS International主体;它发放指令和方向，保证仪表之间的相互工作通畅。所有的参与者，如：工厂操作者，供应商，DCS 供应商等均由其管理。
FieldConnex过程接口用最少的接线连接多个传统的输入输出模块到现场总线。本质安全包括: 传感器和触发器可安装在 Zone 0/ Div. 1,过程接口安装在Zone 1/ Div. 1. I/O模块由现场总线供电，节省接线。过程接口可选择标准功能模块，选择不同制造商现场仪表，灵活性强。
一个单一的现场总线地址可带多达12个数字量传感器如NAMUR传感器。设备适用于大规模的数字量输入或遍布工厂的其他信号分布。
